Your confirmation is on its way

How to get ready

Three quick things before we speak

Step 1: Note where the pressure is

The call works best when you arrive with a few things already in mind. Take ten minutes to note:

  • What’s creating the most pressure right now – in governance, strategy, systems or income
  • What you’ve already tried – and what hasn’t worked
  • What a good outcome from this call would – look like for you

You don’t need polished answers – rough notes are fine. We’ll structure the conversation from there and ask the right questions to get to what’s actually going on.

Step 2: Watch a short video first

Before we speak, watch “Don’t Waste Your Time Running a Charity”. It walks through the things every charity needs to get right early – across governance, strategy, systems and income – and why most charity problems aren’t really funding problems. You’ll start to spot which patterns might be playing out in your own organisation.

Step 3: Check your tech

It’s a video call, so check that your mic, camera, light, and Internet connection are working beforehand. The call usually takes about 30 minutes.

Useful tools while you wait

The same tools we use with the charities we work with.

While you wait for the call, it’s worth a look at our toolkits, guides and frameworks – built from 15 years inside the sector, and priced so small charities can actually use them. A few that trustees and CEOs reach for most:

  • Charity Growth Diagnostic – work out where time, money or momentum is being lost, and what needs attention first.
  • Charity Income That Doesn’t Depend on One Source – why income stays fragile in small charities, and how to build it as a connected system rather than scattered activity.
  • When Your Strategy Stops Guiding Decisions – spot where your direction stopped fitting reality, what still holds value, and how to rebuild a strategy people actually use.
  • Trustees Meeting Minutes Template – a structured Word template built around Charity Commission CC48, so your minutes hold up when a funder or the Commission asks.

Worth a look before we speak – you might spot something that’s already on your mind.
