No cause should be held back by the organisation built to serve it
That’s the belief Evolve Catalyst is built on – a charity management consultancy and mentoring practice for small UK charities. Our purpose follows from it: we help charities build organisations that work, so they can focus on the people and causes they exist to serve.
Why this is our mission
Behind every charity is a cause – a problem someone set out to solve, a group of people (or animals, or places) someone set out to help, wherever in the world they are. The cause is the reason the charity exists. But a cause can only ever be as effective as the organisation carrying it.
When a charity can’t make clear decisions, can’t keep its income steady, or can’t turn hard work into progress, the cause is what suffers – not for any lack of purpose, but for want of an organisation able to deliver it. The commitment is there. The vehicle for it isn’t.
That gap is what Evolve Catalyst exists to close. We don’t run the cause; that part is yours. We work on the organisation built to serve it, so the cause gets the vehicle it deserves.
And it matters at every stage of a charity’s life. A charity that never quite gets started, one registered for years and going nowhere, one busy but pulled in too many directions – in each of them, a real cause is being held back by an organisation not yet able to carry it. What we stand for
Five commitments that form how we work, who we take on, and how we show up.
- Integrity. We’re straight about what we can do and what we can’t. If something isn’t right for you, we’ll say so, even when it would be easier not to. You’ll always know where you stand with us.
- Partnership. We work alongside you, not over you. This is mentoring, not a report handed across a desk – we help you reach the decision, then help you act on it, so the change is yours to keep.
- Depth. We look for the real reason something isn’t working, not the easy one. The obvious fix usually treats a symptom; we’d rather find what’s actually causing the problem, even when that takes longer.
- Durability. We build for after we’ve gone. The aim is a charity that runs well without us – not one that depends on us to stay standing. What we help put in place should still be working years later.
- Empathy. Every charity is different, and everyone running one is carrying something. We listen before we advise, and we meet you where you actually are – not where a textbook says you ought to be.
