Evolve Catalyst is a charity management consultancy and mentoring practice for small UK charities. We help charities build organisations that work, so they can focus on the people and causes they exist to serve.
The work runs the full length of a charity’s life – from the first idea, through registration and early growth, to established charities finding their focus again. Behind it is around 15 years spent working inside UK charities, brought to the things that hold an organisation up: governance, strategy, systems and income.
What Evolve Catalyst does
One service covers it all: charity management consultancy and mentoring. It starts the moment someone has an idea for a charity and needs to shape what it will do and which problem it solves, and it reaches through to an established organisation whose setup has stopped keeping pace with its work. Charity setup isn’t a separate service sitting to one side – it’s the first stretch of the same road.
Most of what we do comes back to four foundations: governance that holds, a strategy that guides decisions, systems the team can actually use, and income that doesn’t lean on a single source. Get those right, and a charity can act with confidence rather than react to whatever lands that week.

Who we work with
We work with small UK charities in England and Wales. What matters more than size is how a charity is run – our clients tend to be organisations where leadership is still close to the work, and the decisions that matter are still made by a small group rather than layers of committees. In practice, that usually means charities under £1 million in income, and often a good deal smaller.
Charities come to us at three points along the same road:
- Not started – you have the idea but not yet the charity, and you need to shape what it will do and set it up so it won’t box you in later.
- Started but stalled – you registered, sometimes years ago, and never quite got moving – the next steps weren’t clear, the hours weren’t there, or the setup itself is holding you back.
- Established but scattered – you’re busier than ever and it isn’t turning into progress, because the strategy has quietly stopped setting priorities and everything now feels equally urgent.
The people we speak to are usually trustees and chief executives – and often the founder, wearing one of those hats or both.
